Who owns speech?

The project explores media and information activism to challenge and explore our ways of continually remixing and contributing to each others’ artworks and its limitations from intellectual property law and practices. I have a music project under the name D3K∆ where I produce tracks based on popular videos of well-known figures releasing statements that circulated within my social circle. I have mixed two tracks: a track called “Jangan Sombong” based on a sermon from Mama Dedeh, a well known woman Islamic preacher in Indonesia, and a track called “Aquaspermae” from a mixture of an Indonesian official’s comment on how swimming with the opposite sex can cause impregnation and its parody.
